| 12:00PM Depart from the Hyatt Bellevue 12:45PM Cedar Hills Landfill, Maple Valley - Bio Energy Washington Converting Landfill Gasses to Power In the shadow of Mt. Rainier lies the largest untapped landfill gas resource in the country: the 920 acre Cedar Hills Regional Landfill in King County, Washington. Its immense size and proximity to a major natural-gas pipeline make this the ideal place to invest in this technology. In cooperation with their Mid- Atlantic-based parent company, INGENCO, Bio Energy Washington has installed a complex system of gas processing equipment, as well as an onsite generation plant capable of powering the entire process with minimal dependence on the local electricity grid. 1:45PM Rainier Wood Recyclers, Covington Converting Urban Waste to Energy and Secondary Products Each ton of urban wood waste used as hog fuel for energy recovery produces approximately 10.4 million btu’s of energy! – that’s the equivalent of nearly two barrels of oil, and over 3 Megawatts of electricity – enough to power the average U.S. household for nearly 4 months! If Rainier Wood Recyclers sends 45 percent of its recovered wood to energy recovery markets – we reduce the use of fossil fuels by the equivalent of over 200,000 barrels of oil per year, and create the equivalent of over 335,000 Megawatts of electricity from renewable energy – enough to power 32,000 households each year! 2:30PM View Forest Concepts Biomass Bailer in Operation Converting Woody Biomass to Rectangular Bales for Easy Haul An alternative to hand piling and chipping the field portable biobaler makes dense rectangular bales easy to store and transport on flatbed trailers often on backhauls. 4:00PM Seattle Steam - TBD - tour confirmation pending 5:00PM Return to the Hyatt Bellevue COST $45 The cost of this mobile tour includes transportation on a mini-bus, entrance and guides in each facility. |
